Who we are
GotTheJob (ABN 89 266 942 987) is a quoting and follow-up service for Australian tradies. In this policy, "we" and "us" means GotTheJob.
To ask us anything about privacy, contact us using the form on the home page and put your question in "Anything we should know?". We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
The early-access form on this website
What we collect
When you fill in the early-access form, we collect:
- your name, email address and trade
- your mobile number, if you choose to give it
- how you heard about us, if you choose to tell us
- the short referral code, if you came through a link from someone who uses GotTheJob (see below)
- anything you write in "Anything we should know?"
- that you agreed to be contacted, the wording you agreed to, and the date and time
To stop spam and repeated sign-ups, we also keep a scrambled code made from your internet (IP) address. It is a one-way code: we keep the code, never the address itself, and it can't be turned back into the address. We also keep a short note of the type of browser you used.
What we do with it
We use these details only to contact you about GotTheJob early access (by email, or by text if you gave a mobile number) and to answer any question you asked. We do not add you to any other mailing list, and we do not sell, rent or swap your details with anyone.
We only email or text people who signed up on this form. Every message we send says who it is from and includes a way to unsubscribe (an unsubscribe link in emails, or replying STOP to a text). Once you unsubscribe, we stop.
Where it is kept and who can see it
Sign-ups are stored privately in a storage area that only we can read. This website and that storage are hosted on Vercel, a cloud hosting company. Vercel may store and process the information outside Australia, including in the United States.
When someone signs up, we send ourselves a short text alert through Mobile Message, an Australian text message provider. The alert contains only your first name, your trade and the short referral code if there is one, never your email address or mobile number.
How long we keep it
We keep your sign-up for 12 months, then delete it. If you become a customer before then, the service part of this policy applies instead. The spam counters linked to the scrambled internet address code are cleared within a few days.
Deleting or changing your details
You can ask us to delete your sign-up, correct it, or tell you what we hold, at any time. Contact us using the form on the home page (put your request in "Anything we should know?"), or reply to any message from us. We will delete the request along with your sign-up.
No cookies, no analytics
This website does not use cookies, analytics, advertising or tracking scripts, and it does not load fonts, videos or anything else from other companies. (Stripe's payment page is a separate site, run by Stripe: see below.) The light, dark and theme buttons work only inside your browser and are not saved or sent anywhere.
If you arrive through a link from someone who uses GotTheJob, we remember a short code for 30 days in your browser so we can thank them; it is not a tracking cookie, and if you sign up the code is stored with your sign-up.
Like any website, our host keeps standard technical logs (such as the internet address, browser type and page requested) for a short time, for security and to keep the site running.
Paying for a plan on this website
What Stripe does
When you start the founders plan, you pay on a page run by Stripe, a payment company. Stripe collects your card details, name, email and billing address, charges your card each month and emails your receipts. Stripe handles that information under its own privacy policy and may store it outside Australia, including in the United States. Stripe's page uses its own cookies to take the payment and prevent fraud. We never see or store your card number.
What we keep
- your name and email address, as you gave them to Stripe
- Stripe's reference codes for you, your plan and your payments
- your plan, its status (such as paid, in a free period, or cancelled) and when it changed
- the short referral code, if you came through a link from someone who uses GotTheJob
- the setup details you send us on the welcome page: business name, trade, ABN and mobile, and if you choose, your licence number, service area, web address and logo
We never ask for or keep your bank details on this website. You type those yourself, inside the app.
What we do with it
We use it to set up and run your account, to help with billing questions, and to keep our business records. When you pay, we send ourselves a short text alert through Mobile Message with your first name and plan only, never your email address or mobile number. It is stored privately in the same storage area as the early-access sign-ups, which only we can read.
How long we keep it
We keep payment records for as long as the law requires us to keep business records (generally five years in Australia). Your setup details are kept while you are a customer, and the service part of this policy applies to them once your account is switched on.
Your private link
The welcome page gives you a private link back to it and to your billing page. It stops working after 30 days. Anyone with the link can open your billing page, so keep it to yourself.
The GotTheJob service
This part explains how the app handles information once a tradie's account is switched on. There are two groups of people:
- Tradies (our customers): business details, login details, prices, quote templates and settings.
- Their customers (people who receive a quote): name, email, mobile number, job address and the details of the quote. The tradie enters this information and is responsible for having it. We handle it on the tradie's behalf to send and follow up the quote.
Link-view tracking
Every quote email and text contains a link to the quote page. Each message gets its own link, so when someone opens the quote page we can record which message the link came from, the time it was opened and the type of device (for example "Opened via SMS, follow-up 2, on a phone"). This is shown to the tradie in the quote's activity log and is used to decide which follow-up to send next, for example to skip the "did it come through?" message if the quote has already been opened.
Optional email open pixel
This is off by default. A tradie can choose to turn it on, which adds a small invisible image to their quote emails that tells us when the email was opened. Email open signals are not always accurate because some email apps load or block images automatically. If the tradie does not turn this on, we only record opens of the quote page itself.
Delivery records
For each message we keep a delivery log: sent, delivered, opened, bounced and replied. This helps the tradie see what happened and fix bad email addresses or numbers.
Unsubscribe and "not for me"
Every follow-up email names the business that sent it and includes an unsubscribe link. Using it stops further follow-up emails about that quote. The quote page also has a one-tap "not for me" option where the customer can give a reason (such as price or timing); choosing it stops the reminders.
Text messages and opt-out
Text follow-ups go to Australian mobile numbers and include a way to opt out, such as replying STOP. Once someone opts out, we stop sending them text follow-ups from that business.
Where it is stored and who sees it
The service is hosted on Vercel, which may store and process information outside Australia, including in the United States. Texts are sent through an Australian text message provider and emails through an email delivery provider; we will name each provider on this page before a tradie's account is switched on. We do not sell personal information.
Access, correction and complaints
You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, by contacting us using the form on the home page. If you received a quote, you may also want to contact the business that sent it. If you are not happy with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
Changes
We will update this policy whenever how we handle information changes. The date at the top shows the latest version.
